A história de Brasil volta aos 1500 com a aterrissagem de Cabral de Pedro. A região que as coberturas de missão é parcialmente na bacia Amazonas e parcialmente no Nordeste e zonas de rio de Tocantins. Cada uma destas regiões jogam uma parte na vida de meio é. A maioria desta área foi habitada por nativos locais, estes viveu em vilas semi-permanente. Com a vinda de exploradores e oportunista que eles têm quase sido religated a perserve e terras tribais põem de lado pelo governo. Embora, o fato esse tanto desta região é rico em "garimpeiros" de recursos naturais e outro oportunitistas foi fora da lei obter fama e fortuna assim como terra. Os quadros famosos de "formigueiro" de um acampamento de mineração são típicos da atitude dos colonizadores. Muitos carregou sobre o 'usa a terra para todo que tem' e movimento em atitude dos colonos portugueses cedo.
Mais recentemente, a notícia grande da região é um escândalo grande de corrupção envolvendo a cabeça do Senado que acontece ser do estado de Pará. Isto é definativamente uma região de mudança constante. Dez ou vinte anos para a frente coisas mais uma vez estarão completamente diferentes. Especialmente se as massas de sem terras continua de roubar lotes na periferia de povoado.

POVO
Devido ao fato que a bacia Amazonas esparsamente esteve povoada mesmo para cima até há pouco tempo e em lugares imóvel inexplorado você acha uma mistura das pessoas dentro da missão. Não pense que sairá na selva pregar a um punhado de índios nem para Nativos. Muitos das pessoas que você encontra-se são como europeu como são. Embora não é incomum achar as pessoas de fundos misturados com algum sangue nativo neles.
A maioria de pessoas têm sangue até certo ponto nativo mas, a maioria de tem algum português neles também. Então as pessoas de achado com um construído em bronzeado não é incomum, mas, ao mesmo tempo há um bom número de as pessoas de pele clara. Algumas cidades como anfitrião de jogo de Luis de São a uma grande mistura de fundos devido a seua história. Primeiro se foi fundado por francês que onde corrida fora pelo português e então inturn forçou fora pelo holandês. O português finalmente tomou controle e virou a cidade no a maioria de Lusitanian de todo Brasil.
Não é incomum achar pessoas de descida africana na Missão. Eles não são como comum nesta região como outros desde que escravidão não era como pesadamente fixação de preços especialmente na bacia de Chuva. Embora correndo em mulatos e Cabocolos é muito comum, e a norma em muitas áreas. Mas, acaba de correr num cor-de-rosa esfolou rapaz loiro em seuas viagens também.
Como um Penha de Presidente de nota uma vez contou-nos de uma mulher que nunca tinha ido mais de cinco milhas de seu lar. Imagine isso. Achará tipos pobremente educados de Advogado vivendo somente algumas milhas de si.

Fast food?? Don't get your hopes up for McDonalds regularly since I never did see one the whole time I was in the mission field.
The North of Brasil is the home of many exotic plants and fruit.
I remember buying pinapples by the lot when they were in season and getting served mango juice by serveral members. But, a common favorite in the Belém region is Açaí (a purple liquid usually eaten with corn meal and fish as a meal).
As beans and rice are the staples of brasilian food get used to see them at all your lunches. But, don't get to worried. The Author was able to avoid eating beans the whole time with little trouble. Most members will not make a big deal of your dinning habits or tastes. Though you will not have much say in what is served in the end.
A typical lunch would include most of the following Beans, rice, Macarrão Nada (pasta with tomato paste), Mayonaise salad, chicken, and of course juice (cashew fruit or passion fruit mainly).
The all time favorite soda pop you will ever have in the field is one that comes from a berry called Guaraná. The only thing better is Cajuinha by the brand São Geraldo.

WEATHER
Weather in this region is best described as hot. Though, there is not one set pattern to rain. In Belém during the non-rainy season it is always raining some time between 2 and 4 in the afternoon. The rainy season adds morning showers around 10 am.
But, just a few hours by bus away in Imperatriz you find a 6 month rainy season that brings scattered showers and flooding; to the dry and hot season the other half of the year.
With rain just a few moments away the best you can do is bring an umbrella and hope you don't get stuck at some investigators house after some heavy rain.

Even though the humidity is high it is not unbearable. You actually get used to it by the time your coming home. And all the chapels use over head fans in place of air conditioning units so you never have to worry about it being nice outside and freezing during church.

O que dizer sobre roupa? Há padrões todos missionários devem seguir para vestir. A camisa branca típica e gravata e calças para rapazes e irmãs o vestido velho simples etc. Todo que realmente pode estar dito aqui está que você cuidadosamente deve considerar seu sapatos assegurar-se de que o não corre em problemas. O DOC martens estão um sapato recomendado desde que segurarão para cima bem. Algum fez sapatos pretos de tênis mas, eles não duram durante muito tempo. E alguns sapatos estragará facilmente.
Quanto a que tipo de pano é melhor. Pense pegajoso e não tão pegajoso. A umidade é alta e pode fazer algum pau de tipos de panos a você gosta de uma multidão má de mosquitos. Mesmo vai para peças de roupa. Melhor recomendação estar feita aqui está tomar pares de serveral de camisas e Garments (sobre o mínimo nu durante o semana). Tive um companheiro que usou só 5 pares de Garments somar. Não fique pegado ter que lavar seuas Garments no banho de chuveiro. Pode ter uma empregada e se você faz ser um uma vez por semana. E tentando de ser frugal ter grandes novas Garments meio meio por ser beliche. Não faça mão de vaca e você o achará ter roupa usável tomar para casa nem distribui no fim senão pode acabar sua roupa.
E não esqueça-se de incluir algum p-dia e roupa de serviço. Quererá algo diferente usar para estas oportunidades.
You start by going to a local school or other type of organization and volunteering to provide service. This could be anything from cleaning out the drainage ditch in front to helping repaint some walls. And the whole time you never push anything about the church. You slowly win over the curiousity and minds of the students and administrators. Then after some time you approach an administrator to ask if you could have some kind of demonstration or question answer type session with the students. Commonly in Brazil you find many schools have some type of religion class and it is not uncommon to have visitors or comparision opportunities.
So now you have lined up the chance to pass a church video and answer some questions for the local student body. At the same time you provide a questionaire to see if they have further interest. And the rest is history.
One set of missionaries even had the chance to show a church film to a group of Police officers in Imperatriz. A great nonthreating way to show alittle about the church while building relationships of trust. Those that get into the spirit of charity will go great lengths to help someone and not just for numbers.
Because if your going for "Gee Ah Gah" or fame, glory and numbers to impress the President then you've got another thing coming. If you go for service and true charity and genuine concern then you will likely baptize more than the others that do not. It's amazing what can happen; just ask anyone that has been to the "Mission of Miracles"(Missão de Milagres).

P-DAY
The big thing to remember about P-DAY is not to get your hopes up. If you do things right you will truely be using this as a day of rest and not one of being a tourist. Sure it is fun to vist the Equitorial line or go down to the Rivers edge to see the isle in the middle of the Amazon river. But, P-day is the day to write letters home and take care of business.
The biggest thing you should know is that Soccer or Futebol is off limits due to the ability to easily get injured. Many times we played volleyball and even had a mini-olympics. Just enjoy yourself and use it as a day to gather your thoughts and get some rest. Your feet will thank you if you treat them right. Since walking everywhere can be tiring.
